Egg tempera.....285 x 200 mm
Initially had some composition issues with it but think I've sorted them........would have liked to break up the continuous plank lying diagonally but putting something like rope would look a bit contrived........having said that the whole composition was contrived!!

Anyway.........on with the next..............believe it or not more chains, rope and stones!!

I paint on gesso panels. I make my own gesso with rabbit skin glue and chalk.

You used egg tempera? What did you paint this on, if you dont mind me asking. Wood? This is very nice!!

It is egg tempera on gesso panel. The panels are made from medium density fibre board (MDF) and coated with many many layers of gesso which I make from rabbit skin glue, chalk and water........the gesso is then sanded down to a very smooth surface.
